Childbirth and child-rearing ・・・ 出産・育児

1 When pregnant

○When pregnant
A woman who has become pregnant should report her pregnancy to the Hoken Center of the city where she has registered gaikokujin toroku. When a woman reports a pregnancy, she will receive a Maternal and Child Health Handbook (Boshi Kenko Techo).

○Boshi kenko techo (Maternal and child health handbook)
This handbook is designed to record the results of both the mother and child’s medical check-ups and their health conditions, and provide information on medical examinations, vaccinations and health services.
The separate book you will get at the same time also includes a section on Pregnancy Health Examinations (Ninshin no Kenko Shinsa). With this service, examinations are received at medical facilities in Shiga Prefecture partly at the public expense.

○Health advice and health examinations during pregnancy
“Kosodate taiken kyoshitsu”(A class to practice child rearing)
Kosodate taiken kyoushitsu is held at the Hoken Center for those experiencing their first pregnancy and their husbands. Midwives and public nurses(hokenshi) will instruct the participants about routinely necessary knowledge and the way of giving the baby a bath, ranging from giving a birth to child rearing.
“Home Visits by a Public Heath Nurse” (Hokenfu ni yoru Homon Shido) A public nurse(hokenshi) can also make home visits and offer advice in Japanese.
